Home to many diplomats, businessmen, members of Congress, and high-ranking government officials, the town of McLean has celebrity residents not only historical but also in the current year. In 2018, it was announced that McLean was the 3rd wealthiest city in America. Due to its closeness to D.C. and various government buildings, this Washington suburb borders Arlington, Falls Church, Tysons Corner and Maryland.
From a historical standpoint, it houses Hickory Hill, the former home of widow Ethel Kennedy. Salona, the former home of Light-Horse Harry Lee, the Revolutionary War hero, is also close by to this town. McLean is known for its luxury homes and its high-end shopping destinations: the Tysons Corner Center and the Tysons Galleria. McLean also houses big companies such as Capital One, Mars, Geebo, Booz Allen Hamilton, Freddie Mac, Hilton Worldwide and the Gannett Company.
McLean feeds into Fairfax County Public Schools. Commuter routes include the Capital Beltway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, I-66, Dulles Access Road, Dolley Madison Boulevard/Chain Bridge Road, Georgetown Pike, and Old Dominion Drive all run through McLean. McLean Station on the Washington Metro Silver Line opened in 2014, two miles west of the village near Tysons Corner. If this place seems like home to you, call The Swede Team and let Howard know!
